Euromed passion flower extract is a standardized herbal extract of Passiflora incarnata L. herb, a perennial creeping vine native to America and cultivated in the USA, north of Africa and some European countries.

Chemistry

Next to phenolic acids, coumarins, phytosterols, essential oil and cyanogenic glycosides, the drug contains maltol and indole alkaloids (principally harman, harmaline and harmine).

The major components are flavonoids, mainly flavone di-C-glycosides and 2'-glycosides of isovitexin and iso-orientin.
